Before installing new and customized ROM on any Android device first thing is to Root that phone. I have make a promise that I’ll show you step by step guide how to install Dirty Unicorns on my Samsung Galaxy S4.
In this article I will explain how to get Root access to your official Android Lollipop, so that you can install any customized ROM you like.
Here on a first photo it is shown Device info
Model is Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 with Android Lollipop 5.0.1.
To get Root access to your phone I suggest you to carefully follow steps on this link. However, I will try to explain them most precise for my device – I9505 with Lollipop 5.0.1.
Before you do anything you must be aware of risks you taking. If something goes wrong, your phone could be damaged and useless. I’m not responsible for any of those things. Only person you can blame is you.
So lets see what we need here:
First you need to download file called GalaxyS4-CWM-126.96.36.199-GT-i9505.tar
Save it on your PC and then Download ODIN – you need this Application for Rooting your phone. You can find ODIN here.
Make sure you have drivers installed on your system.
Now, Power down your phone and then connect it (Galaxy I9505) with a PC with USB cable and Run ODIN (As Administrator in case of Win7 or Vista). While your phone is OFF start Download mode by holding Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time and then press Volume Up to confirm Download mode.
Now your phone is in Download mode… It says Downloading… Do not turn off target!!
After you have successfully flashed Recovery now it is time to install SuperSU. Download SuperSU and then install it on your phone.
How to do that? Turn ON your phone and copy SuperSU on your Micro SD card. After that you need to go to the Recovery by Turning your phone OFF and then holding Volume UP + Home + Power key all together. Release keys right after screen flickers. Now just flash SuperSU from your Micro SD card. Select Zip file and confirm flashing. Reboot your phone and that is it.
Your phone is Rooted and now you can Install custom ROM.
This tutorial rely on RubbaBand explanation. Thanks!
After i have done all steps described on the text above I must say that root process didn’t work for my device. All steps seems fine, and you phone should be rooted, but in case you can’t root your phone then I suggest to try this method.
Hope it will help someone to root phone successfully. After rooting your phone, there is no way back 🙂 New ROM is your next move…
